Yodamom Finds her Force

The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said.
The chances, the changes are all yours to make.
The mold of your life is in your hands to break.

The Suffering - Rin Chupeco

This is some scary ghost hunting stuff here. There is no sweet cute Slimmer

This Was an Unexpected Pleasure

Where the Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens

What an adventure that was. The narration was so good I easily got lost in this audiobook's world. The story was so simple and yet so complex. The characters were amazing, by the end of the book I felt like. they were family. Seriously how many books leave you feeling that way ?
We follow a young girl, a swamp girl who from a very young age is abandoned by her parents to live alone in the swamp. She suffers, but never quits, at 7 she figures out how to get the basics. The adults in town thing she's a dirty marsh thing and want nothing to do with her. She spends one horrible day at school before running back to the swamp where noting hates her. Years pass, she's alone except for one boy and an older couple outcasts in a different way. The boy teaches her to read and sets her life on fire. She takes that lesson and feeds it. Her life and her love of the swamp are such bitterly beautiful. I loved this story, and don't think I'll ever forget the Marsh girl. There was so much pain, love, suffering, happiness, and beauty.

Creepy, Scary, Sleep Depriving

Little Darlings - Melanie Golding

True horror. Imagine having your newborn babies switched and only you know it. Everyone see's perfect sweet little babies, she sees gray little creatures. Her fierceness keeps her going even when all is against her. The world thinks she's crazy, and she wonders that herself, till.. I'm not telling you more the surprises are glorious to discover unknown.
I could not put this book down. It was such a perfect scary read. I stayed up a couple of nights later than I should have because I had to find out if...then I thought through the events during my work day. I love a book that doesn't let go when you set it down. I can't wait to get ahold of more from this author

Best Batman So Far

Batman: White Knight - Sean Murphy

Easily the best Batman Story I've ever read. Batman is darkly twisted in this alternate universe. The Joker is not so twisted and everything is.... amazing. This book felt much more grown up, more detailed and dover into darker places than the past Batman books i've read. The illustrations WOW, just fantastic, Matt Hollingsworth is a new favorite.
I am on board for this new series, sign me up for book 2.

Little Darlings - Melanie Golding

This is turning lout to be a really good read. Bonus it's a Grimm type tale :D Yup I might have a bingo if I can finish it before Halloween. I think I'm the only person that dose not have a bingo yet, but I've had fun

Attack of Ripped Aliens

The Darkest Star - Jennifer L. Armentrout

I read this in two days. It was another couldn't put down read from this author. Her Lux series was the same, I stayed up reading, who needs sleep ? This one picks up from the after edges of that series, based around the Origin Luc and a human girl Evie.
The world after the Lux series is not an easy gentle one, things are tough, fear prevails, memories are good and hate is strong. The fear is real when dead bodies start showing up. The government has taken control and neutralized the Luxen, giving humans a chance to feel equal. When Evie goes against the rules, and puts everyone in danger her and Luc are then on path that will change everything. The secrets that unravel in all this mess open her eyes to a past she will never know.
I didn't give this a five star, I just wasn't believing in some of the characters, Evie and Luc. Their actions/thoughts fit their age but not their life experiences. I think that was the problem, all that happened in that world would have aged them mentally and emotionally. They acted like stereotypical early high school kids not 17 and 18 year old raised in a world of alien wars and death. Oh and Luc has some might fine abs.
The end ! ARGUH Way to leave me hanging JLA ! I can't wait to read book 2 in this series, hopefully they grew up a bit.

Twisted Bloody Fun

The Lesser Dead - Christopher Buehlman

I have no idea what to say about the story. Recap that ? No way. It was so good, so twisted, bloody, raunchy, with the perfect amount of snark. I have found a favorite author. Every page was just so good, I read it slow wanting to absorb each word. I should have seen the twist right ? I didn't, oh so good. OMg what happened to Gonzo ?

The Lesser Dead - Christopher Buehlman

Creepy kids, they are EVIL ALWAYS ! I swear they are worse than the adult monsters

Not Very Suspenseful

The Child Finder - Rene Denfeld

3 Audiobook great narration
I liked it, not loved it. It might be just a first book in a series, need to get to know the characters better thing. It was a suspense but I never felt that edge if my seat, omg you've got to hurry thing. I like a more adrenaline rushed suspense. I may give it another chance someday.

More Dark Comedy Than Horror

Witch Hunter - J.Z. Foster

This would be a killer movie. A spit your popcorn all over the people in front of you movie. Hollywood are you listening ? A cult classic B move just waiting to be found. The characters were off beat, nerdy, jockey, pretty, sneaky, deadly, wickedly fun. The main character is an ultra nerdy fake who desperately wants to impress the girl, with his fake job. The fun part is that it's not fake, it's all real and nerd boy has to fake it till he makes it basically. The unbelievable tries to kill him and it gets real, fast.
If you love dark twisted comedy, where some may die or get eaten, with bumbling heroes, who take unconventional paths, this is a book for you. if not wait for the movie it will be a killer.

Reading progress update: I've read 25 out of 368 pages.

The Lesser Dead - Christopher Buehlman

Oh yeh, I felt the same way about 70's Robert Plant. i love this author already

True Historical Horror

But You Did Not Come Back: A Memoir - Marceline Loridan-Ivens, Sandra Smith, Judith Perrignon
Marceline, was taken to a camp with her father when she was just 16. She writes of her nightmare, her community, her country, her family, but mostly the effect of losing her father and his dreams in such a way. Her painful memories that never diminished, while everyone kept telling her to just forget. Those who did not walk in her skin could never fully understand their bond and the cost of the break.
This is her story a feel of what being in her skin felt like during and after the war. Her life was forever altered and never safe and free. The story is beautiful, her words direct and full of heartbreak. I finished it still wishing he might come home. This war left few happy ever after stories. I will never forget her

A Really Enjoyable Frightening Thriller

The Girl from the Well - Rin Chupeco

4.5 Japanese ancient myths & horror blend vey well in this modern tale. I am so happy to have found tis author and this series.
